Meet Your Teacher

My name is Jonica Davis, and I will be your child's teacher. I have been a teacher for nineteen years. This is my thirteenth year of teaching here in Bledsoe County and my tenth year teaching here at Bledsoe County Middle School. I must say that I continue to feel very blessed to be apart of a small school with such strong community ties.
My goal has always been to be the best teacher possible by having a strong commitment to give your child the best education possible. My first four years of teaching were spent outside of Pikeville. I have a bachelor's degree from Tennessee Technological University in secondary education with a concentration in history, and a master's degree and an educational specialist degree in instructional leadership from Tennessee Technological University. Prior to teaching, I worked in a factory and a group home for manic depressants and schizophrenics while getting my degree.
I have coached basketball for 12 years in this county and 16 years total. I have also coached cross country for the high school and middle school for 12 years. Needless to say that my family has given up time with me in order for me to spend it with the youth of this county.
My husband, Carlos Davis, and I have been married for twenty-four years, and we have three daughters. They are all grown now so we are somewhat empty nesters. When they were younger they all did multiple sports and we did a lot of traveling for them to play those sports. I have one daughter that has graduated from college and is planning on being a K-5 teacher. I have another that is still in college and then one that is planning on going into the Air Force. One interesting note is that we live on a farm and we have plenty of animals. In my spare time, I love to travel and spending time at the beach. I also enjoy hiking at Fall Creek Falls and other outdoor activities especially in the warmer months.
I look forward to an exciting year of working and learning together. I will strive to make our classroom a fun and engaging place to be. I believe in personal responsibility and hold high expectations for all of my students. That is why your support is an integral part of the educational process. Together, we can help your child become a responsible and successful student. I look forward to working with you as we help your child learn, grow, and become the best he/she can be!
