Dear Parents,
The Tennessee General Assembly passed legislation to address learning loss due to the COVID pandemic. As a part of this legislation, our school district has received funds to run a four-week Summer Learning Camp for students who are currently in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. This means students who are in grades Kindergarten through 7th grade for the 2020-2021 school year can apply for camp.
The camp will run from June 1st-June 25th. Camp will begin at 8:00 and end at
3:00. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided at no cost to families. Students will
be engaged in reading, math, physical education, as well as other activities, each
day. Additionally, transportation will be provided at all normal bus stops.
Since the intention of the camp is to help students recover from any learning loss that had occurred during the COVID pandemic, student attendance will be critical. If your student is accepted into camp, he/she will be expected to attend each day, unless there is an extenuating circumstance. Attendance incentives will be awarded to students who exhibit strong attendance during camp.

BCMS Welcomes New Math Teacher Amy Owens
Amy Owens recently graduated from Tennessee Technological University. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle School Math and is looking forward to working with all the students at Bledsoe County Middle School this year. Bledsoe County is her hometown and she wanted to return to the school system that allowed her to thrive and grow.
Mrs. Owens is excited about building relationships with her students and working with them as they progress in their education. She decided to become a teacher because she wanted to make a difference in the lives of young adults, like her teachers did for her. Bledsoe County schools have helped her reach her goals and now she wants to help others in reaching theirs. She loves math because it is used throughout every aspect of life and she can’t want to show this to her students. Amy is here to serve her both her students and community and comes highly recommended by her mentoring teachers. If you are interested in participating in an honors math class please contact Mrs. Owens at amyowens@bledsoecountyschools.org
